THE SPIRES LAUNCHES BUSINESS PACKAGE FOR INDEPENDENT WOMEN
Glasgow-based serviced apartments The Spires has launched a new travel package aimed at single female business travellers.
Women are reported to be spending more time away on business trips, yet according to a recent survey most are unhappy with the service they receive from hotels and feel lonely when far from home. When traveling solo they want a home-from-home welcome and to be treated equal to their male business colleagues.
The Spires – which provides five-diamond luxury accommodation in the heart of the city’s financial district - is offering its new package as part of a long term drive to make their female guests feel at home.
The Single Female Business Package includes:
- Apartments with state of the art video phone entry systems and spy holes for extra security
- Priority top floor apartment allocation
- Apartments with good lighting for make-up and long length mirrors
- A selection of up to date business magazine and newspapers
- A pamper pack to help visitors unwind after a long day of meetings
Eating alone in restaurants also featured high on the list as one of the things women dread doing the most on business trips. At the Spires there’s no need to step outside, as each of the apartments have fully equipped kitchens and dining areas - and the team will even do the grocery shopping if required.
Margaret Beattie, Managing Director of The Spires said: “Being a frequent lone traveller I know there’s nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable while away from home. So many more women are taking business trips and the demand for appropriate accommodation is growing. We intend to meet this requirement by recognising that women’s needs are different to their male colleagues and providing them with a tailored package.
“We want women staying with us to feel safe in their apartments. That’s why we’ve introduced such high security measures – with our video phone entry systems you can actually see who is at your door before buzzing them in.”

With up to three bedrooms, lounge, kitchen and bathroom, the apartments are kitted out with luxury imported furniture. With three times as much space as the average hotel room ladies have plenty of room to unwind after a long day at work.
Ms Beattie continued: “It’s a shame that in 2004 women still feel uncomfortable travelling alone on business and think they get a worse service than their male counterparts. With business travel on the increase indicating a more hectic pace of life, it’s important that women feel at ease to unwind after a hard day’s work. We hope that our measures will make our female guests feel important and at ease when far from home.”
