The Spires cook up support for children’s helpline

The Spires Serviced Suites in Aberdeen is organising a celebrity-led cooking challenge to raise vital funds for vulnerable children. ‘Lets Cook at The Spires’ will be held on Thursday 4 June at The Spires, 531 Great Western Road, Aberdeen. The event will run from 6pm to 9pm and hopes to raise over £1,000 for the NSPCC’s ChildLine service in Scotland. The event, supported by Aberdeen design agency, Rhino Ltd, will see ten teams put their culinary skills to the test as they compete in the ultimate cooking challenge. There will be a selection of prizes on offer for the top-placed teams, including a 2-night luxury Spires stay for up to four people for each member of the winning team. Teams will also benefit from some expert celebrity support to keep them on track. TV chefs Alan Coxon and Charita Jones will be on-hand to give advice and encouragement, before deciding which team will be crowned the challenge champions. A number of other activities, including a wine tasting, will be on offer to guests throughout the evening. Tickets for Lets Cook at The Spires cost £100 for a team of three. £500,000 refurbishment complete at The Spires in Aberdeen

The Spires has marked the completion of a £500,000 refurbishment of its Aberdeen serviced suites, with the launch of new Director’s Suites. The [Aberdeen-based] business which operates serviced suites in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Birmingham, realised that its business guests were wanting the ability to work more efficiently from their suites. The new Director’s Suites have the second bedroom equipped as an office, with a full-sized desk, free wireless Internet, plus printers and stationery.

Scottish serviced suites firm confirms first English venture 21st December The leading independent serviced suites operator The Spires has confirmed the acquisition of 24 apartments in central Birmingham, its first venture into the English market. The £3.8m deal follows similar developments in Glasgow and Aberdeen, where The Spires is based. The new suites – part of a growing trend away from conventional hotels – are expected to be ready for bookings in March 2007.
